Holiday on Gran Canaria - some facts
Gran Canaria is really a tourist attraction. There are so many things to tell about Gran Canaria - it would take many pages. Fact is: there are not only tourism areas, but also important cultural things and the beauty of nature. Here some facts for your first or next trip to paradise island.
General facts
Las Palmas is very good for sightseeing (for example the old part of the town named Vegueta, it is very difficult to find it by car, but it is worth that!); it is also very good for shopping...
on Gran Canaria it is warm the whole year, the warmest month is August; the climate is one of the healthiest in the world
Gran Canaria is a political autonomy, has a population of about 700 000 people; 3 Mio. tourists come to paradise island during one year
Canary lunch and drinks
You have to try Papas Arrugadas con Mojo... There is also a kind of espresso coffee called Leche y Leche. And - do not forget: the beer named Tropical ;-)
Sightseeing
you should visit the Palmitos Park, the Mundo Aborigen (Museum of canarian history; at the entrance are dogs, you can take them for a walk with you through the park) - but also the beach Playa de Guigui, where you have to walk to in about 2 hours or swim...
A walk to the Roque Nublo is very good. Certainly there are much more places to visit. The best is to buy a travel guide before you go or ask people who live there what is going on during your holiday time.
celebrate days
On Gran Canaria is always a celebration day. Really every month. Very nice is the Carneval in February / March.
Sports
You can bicycle there and do freeclimbing. There are chances on every kind of Sports.
Nightlife
